The top is wire and the base is plastic – you can choose from a blue or pink base color. It
also comes equipped with a water bottle, food dish, resting platform, exercise wheel and ball and fun tubes.
Definitely an option if you’re looking for cool dwarf hamster cages.
2 – Kaytee Critter Trail Triple Play
Kaytee Critter Trail Triple Play 3 in One Habitat for Hamsters. This cage is undoubtedly one of the coolest of the cool cages for hamsters.
The exercise tubes literally skyrocket up to a whopping 19 inches above the base, culminating in a fab lookout tower your hamster will love. At just under 1.5 square feet of floor space, this is a good cage choice for smaller hamster breeds. It also comes with an exercise wheel, water bottle and food dish.
3 – MCage 4 Level Hamster Cage
MCage 4 Level Hamster Cage with Large Top Exercise Ball. At just over 1.2 square feet of floor space, this cage is a good choice for small hamster breeds.
It towers to over two feet in height, making it one of the tallest hamster cage options in its class! The cage itself is pure white with wire bars and a plastic base.
You can choose between a cage with green or navy blue tube accents. The cage comes with no less than three exercise wheels, a nine-piece tube system and a roomy cage-top clear 360-degree view exercise ball as well as a food dish and water bottle.
4 – Crittertrail Pink One Level Habitat
Super Pet Crittertrail Pink One Level Habitat. This amped-up version of Kaytee’s regular CritterTrail habitat is all PINK – perfect for the cute hamster in your life! It is suitable in size for smaller hamsters and has the same ¼-inch safety bar spacing.
There is a petting zone that is removable and an exercise wheel, food dish and water bottle included. If you really want to go all-out with the pink theme, you could pair this cage with this pink/purple Kaytee bedding called “sweet dreams” – it’s a perfect match!

More Cool Hamster Cage Options
The top 5 cool hamster cages are fantastic options, but there are many more out there that might catch your eye. We’ve provided some of the best cool dwarf hamster cages and cool hamster cage ideas below.
Cool dwarf hamster cages
This short list of extra cool dwarf hamster cages showcases just how much fun you can have as a pet hamster today!
Even better, two of the three cages listed below are also compatible with an entire series of attachments, meaning you can customize your fur baby’s habitat to your heart’s content!
Kaytee CritterTrail 2-Level Habitat
Kaytee CritterTrail 2-Level Habitat. This groovy bi-level habitat features ¼-inch cage bar spacing, which is small enough to ensure even the tiniest hamster stays put safely!
This cage has so many features it’s hard to know where to start – there is an interior wheel and an exterior wheel, a petting zone, a lookout tower and a series of fun tunnels to explore. Best of all, this cage is compatible with other CritterTrail accessories such as this great tunnel series!
Habitrail Cristal Hamster Habitat
Habitrail Cristal Hamster Habitat. This striking white and orange cage offers just over one square foot of floor space, making it suitable for a small hamster breed like a dwarf or Chinese hamster so long as you add on extras to offer more in-cage enrichment.
Ferplast White and Pink Hamster Cage
Ferplast White and Pink Hamster Cage. This hamster cage comes with a pink bottom and white cage bars. At just over one square foot with narrow bars, it will work well for smaller hamster breeds (in fact, happy owners claim this cage is “escape proof!”)
The cage itself is packed with colorful yellow and pink play tubes, and it also comes with a suite of accessories including a food bowl, water bottle and nesting/resting area.
Cool Syrian hamster cages
Sitting side by side with other hamster breeds, Syrian hamsters might well be considered giants! At a whopping six inches long at maturity, the Syrian hamster quite literally dwarfs the dwarf hamster and other petite breeds, which typically stop growing at four inches tops.
For more detailed information about hamster breed size and other similarities and differences between breeds, we invite you to view this informative post.
This also means that a Syrian hamster will need a roomier cage than his tinier cousins. A cage that offers two square feet of FLOOR space is a great place to start. One example of the minimum proper cage dimensions for a Syrian hamster would be 24 inches long by 12 inches wide by 12 inches high. Bar spacing should be ½-inch or narrower for safety.
These super cool hamster cages will fit the bill for a Syrian hamster’s increased space needs while providing truly unique enrichment and activity opportunities.
Prevue Pet Products Hamster Haven
Prevue Pet Products Hamster Haven. This flexible and fun hamster habitat comes in three sizes (small, medium, large). The first two sizes will work well for smaller hamster species, but the third size offers a full two square feet of floor space, making it a good choice for the larger Syrian hamster.
The cage comes with an interior exercise wheel, a ramp, a feeding or resting platform and a hiding place.
Flyline House Design Hamster Cage House
Flyline House Design Hamster Cage House. Offering just over two square feet of floor space, this twin turrets wire hamster cage house truly does resemble a stately and grand multi-story mansion.
The interior is equipped with a series of mezzanine levels, platforms, ladder system, exercise wheel, food bowl, water bottle and more. With three full levels to explore, your Syrian hamster will never get bored.
Ferplast HAMSTERVILLE Cage
Ferplast HAMSTERVILLE Hamster Habitat Cage. With its combination of natural sustainable wood and black wire, and offering more than two square feet of floor space, this is an ideal cage choice for a Syrian hamster housed alone. Plus, who can resist a cage named “Hamsterville?”
The cage itself is safely treated for liquid resistance and features an easy-clean pull out tray. Natural wood accessories include an exercise wheel and hiding house. It also comes with a food bowl and water bottle.
Habitrail OVO Home
Habitrail OVO Home, Pink Edition. This completely transparent hamster home has the world’s coolest roof – it is fully retractable just like a concert arena or sports stadium! The home includes a series of connected tubes and tunnels and an exterior exercise wheel that maximizes available space.
It also comes in blue. The top and bottom lock together to keep pint-sized escape artists IN. This is not a good cage choice for a Syrian hamster, but would work well for the smallest hamster breeds.
Habitrail Twist Hamster Cage
Habitrail Twist Hamster Cage. If ever a hamster cage earned the descriptor “funky,” this cage is it. With a clear solid plastic base and locked wire bar top, this cage offers 360-degree views with plenty of ventilation and interaction between you and your teensy furball.
Floor space is just over one square foot, making it a good choice for the smaller hamster breeds. This cage comes with an interior exercise wheel, an exterior lookout and water bottle. It pairs with all other Habitrail accessories so you can expand as desired.
Niteangel Large Wooden Hamster Cage
Niteangel Large Wooden Hamster Cage. There is no doubt this cage will leave a lasting impression – with dimensions of 45.5 x 23.5 x 23 inches, this cage was truly built with hamster comfort in mind, whether one Syrian or several dwarf hamsters live within its walls.
The wood is all-natural un-treated China fir throughout with a fine metal mesh for the roof and exterior walls. This cage is a work of art – truly one-of-a-kind.
Prevue Hendryx Deluxe Hamster Cage
Prevue Hendryx Deluxe Hamster Cage. This cage comes in two base colors: a rich Bordeaux red or a bright and cheery spring lime green. At about 1.8 square feet of floor space, it is barely suitable for a Syrian hamster but would be perfect for a pair of smaller hamsters (as the twin ladders and matching hamster hides suggest).
The exercise wheel is neatly hidden beneath one of the platforms. The wire spacing is a tiny 5/16-inch – perfect for keeping small escape artists IN!
CheerWe Transparent 3 Floors
CheerWe Transparent 3 Floors Hamster Glass Cage-Playground. As we continue our search for really cool hamster cages, this is one that feels more like a cutting-edge architectural model than a working hamster home!
It is just that beautiful, with its completely clear acrylic walls, floors and ceilings and selection of colorful and quirky accessories (you can opt to buy just the cage itself or purchase the cage plus the accessories).
The dimensions layout is a bit odd, we admit – there is less than one square foot of base floor space, but there are three levels inside the home, which adds up to more than 2.4 square feet of floor space total. But somehow, it all seems to work, and combines to give your pet hamster a living space unlike any other.
It’s easy to come up with cool hamster cage ideas, but they need to be effective. You should always go for the best cool hamster cage for your needs. That means choosing one that considers vital features.
Features include the size, which needs to be big enough to house your animals. Multiple levels can help give your hamster more room to run around.
If you are looking for cool dwarf hamster cages then you also need to think about the bar spacing. Small hamsters such as the dwarf hamster breed need bars to be close together. Otherwise, you might have an escaping hamster.
You should go for a hamster cage that is easy to clean. This means simple access and no awkward areas that are hard to reach. Also, consider durability. The best cool hamster cages are no use if they break easily.
How Big Should a Hamster Cage Be?
The size of your hamster cage depends on the breed. Syrian hamsters need 1,000 sq. cm in floor space and at least 40 cm of clearance to the ceiling. Dwarf hamsters and chinese hamsters need the same height, but 750 sq. cm is enough floor space.
More than the minimum is always welcome. Some cool hamster cage ideas include using multiple levels and modular cages to give more floor space and interesting areas for your hamster to explore.
Best Cool Hamster Cages
So which one do you like best? If you had to vote, which of these cages would you dub the “coolest hamster cage ever?” Is it a pink palace, a clear acrylic masterpiece with a 360-degree view, or perhaps a skyscraper mansion with all the extras?
We would love to know which of these cool hamster cages caught your fancy! If you and your hamster are currently enjoying one of the cages mentioned here, please let us know – and tell us what features your hamster enjoys the most!
Even if your fur baby is happily housed in a hamster cage NOT listed here, we’d love to know that too. If you have cool hamster cage ideas then don’t be afraid to share them, and who knows, we might even feature your cage in a future post!
